Number of households in England to rise 17%: ONS

New data from the Office for National Statistics indicates that the number of households in England is set to increase by 17 per cent over the next 25 years, rising to 26.9 million in 2041

That’s the equivalent of 159,000 new households a year which, surprisingly, is considerably lower than the 210,000 a year projected in 2014!

These ONS projections do not take factors such as changing government policy or the macroeconomic picture into account.

Question is, with house prices continuing to rise, is this projected growth sustainable and how will it be effectively managed to make sure those that need help getting on to the property ladder receive the financial support they need?
